A butterfly is one of the most beautiful insects Mother Nature has created. There is no doubt that these incredible beings are admired by all of us. Butterfly Habitat

A habitat of a butterfly is equally beautiful. It is mostly seen in vast fields, meadows and forests. These are some of their natural habitats. All you need to do is create a beautiful surrounding for them and they’ll just fly into your garden making it look all the more picturesque.

You can create a butterfly garden by planting some of the flowering plants that they thrive on. Choose plants which produce sweet nectar and plants with bright and colorful flowers. You can also keep a butterfly house in a shaded corner of your backyard or garden to provide butterflies with shelter against harsh weathers. Life Span

Butterflies are known to have a short life span but it differs from specie to specie. An adult butterfly can live up to a week to a year depending on its species. A butterfly may have one or more generations per year.

Migration

Many butterflies migrate over long distances. Particularly, Monarch butterflies are known for their massive migration from North America to Mexico during the beginning of autumn until the first frost. They travel for over 4000 kilometers.

Butterfly culture and symbolisms

Butterflies being such beautiful creates could not escape the eyes of many artists, painters, musicians and poets. They have been widely used in decorative objects and jewelry. They have been preserved and mounted in frames, displayed in bottles, laminated on paper and used in various other forms of artwork.

Butterflies have distinct characteristic due to which they are related to numerous symbolisms in different cultures. Some cultures believe that a butterfly personifies a person’s soul. In Chinese culture, two butterflies flying together symbolize love. It also refers to rebirth or new life in some old cultures because of its life starting from a cocoon.

The fact that a butterfly is so often used as symbolisms in various cultures just shows that this beautiful creature has been admired for ages and personifies love, peace, life and good omen because of its vibrant beauty and free spirited character.
