Vanity Bench Bathroom
A vanity bench for your bathroom is a small bench or stool that resides in larger, more elegant bathrooms. It is usually placed in a communal bathroom or powder room that has several people in the room at the same time. It is usually placed in a room where women may visit, as women are more likely to stay longer in the powder room adjusting their hair or makeup.
When you are selecting a vanity bench for your bathroom, there are several things that you need to keep in mind. First, the vanity bench in your bathroom must be comfortable. The individual sitting on it should not have to drop far to be seated on the bench. It should be placed against the wall or include a backrest to ensure a high level of comfort. In addition to this, it should be sturdy, so that the person seated upon it will not feel as though they should not be seated there. While having appeal, many antique vanity benches are not as stable as they should be. In the case where you want to use an antique vanity bench for your bathroom, you should arrange for another stool or bench to be in the sitting room portion of the powder room, so that your guests can be comfortable.
Often, a vanity bench in the bathroom is partnered with a small round table. This table allows for the person to place their purse or wallet on, or may be used for fragrance bowls or hand towels. This table should match the general decor of the room, but be placed out of the way so that it does not interfere with anyone trying to walk through the room.
When selecting a vanity bench for your bathroom, often leather or cloth seating will be used. The leather is often suede, although hard, worked leather may be sometimes used. Suede is often preferred, especially in bathrooms that are well ventilated, as the suede is more comfortable to sit on than other leathers. Other leathers may be used as they are much more resistant to steam or water damage than suede. Cloth covered seating may be used on a vanity bench for the bathroom, especially in the case of elegant antiques. Plain wood benches are typically reserved for log cabins or homes that are built with a rustic interior, as this is what was predominately used in this era.
